QuestionHi Tom,
I live in South Central KY and I am wanting to plant Pink knock-out roses at the front of my porch. I recently read where February is a good time to plant them and I wanted to get your opinion on when I should plant them and if there are any pre-cautions I need to do before planting them. Thank you for your time!
AnswerHi Cindy,
Thanx for your question. Knockout roses were bred to be tough and a late February planting is probably okay as long as the soil is not frozen. Dig a whole bigger and deeper than the pot of your rose. Trim some of the tangled roots and make sure the plant sits comfortably and spaciously in the whole slightly below its original height in the pot. Side dress the plant with some well composted manure. Later in the spring, feed with a rose food easily found in most DIYs, hardware stores, nurseries. Water well at planting and during drought periods, water once a week, deeply. I hope this helps.
Tom
