mums and hibiscus

Question
we have mums and hibiscus plants on our terrace in NJ.  We leave for Florida the end of October and return the end of May.  Should we bring these plants inside our apt which is kept at about 50 degrees in the winter or should we leave them outside.  We have a doorman who can come in to water them 2 times a month if we keep them inside?

Answer
Hello Arlene

Great idea!!

If the Mums ordinarily die down in the winter, make sure you cut off the dead stems before you take them inside, so that you don't accidently take in any pests or infections.

Keep the plants in the coolest place - 45-50 degrees is ideal and watering twice a month is perfect, though if the hibiscus begins to look a bit droopy, perhaps a little more water may be needed - speak nicely to your doorman!  (By the way - he sounds like a treasure!)
