QuestionI purchased 4 Red Star Cordyline plants and planted them in front of my house in Jeannette, PA. They're doing great. Now that winter is coming, I need to know how winterize them for the long winter. They are in a bed with weed cloth and they have roughly 4" of a "Red" barn stone around them and they're about 3' from the porch. Is there anything else I can do to protect them.
AnswerHi Lynn,
Thanx for your question. Red Star Cordyline (Cordyline australis) is not rated hardy for Pennsylvania. It's range is USDA Zones 7-9. They would need to be dug up and potted and brought indoors for the winter where they will not freeze. I hope this helps.
