QuestionBought a white calla lily, in a pot while blooming. Every bllom since has been green, how do we get them to be white. It is kept on the edge of a porch facing west and watered regularly and well.
AnswerHi Nick,
Thanx for your question. You indicated that you bought the plant while it was blooming. In the bloom cycle of the plant, the blooms fade to green and will stay that way for some time before setting seed (a pod-like structure with "kernels" forming about it.) or shriveling up. The blooms may have already had some of the green on them when you bought it.
Did subsequent blooms arise from the crown and fail to turn white? Let me know if that's the case.
Tom
