Yucca Plant


Question
I have a yucca indoors that has reached approx 6ft in height and 3/4 feet girth, can i put the plant outside as it is taking over my room.  Would it survive outside.  The plant itselt is about 25 years old

Wow - this is a big plant!!

If it is the house plant Yucca i.e shiny green leaves about 12-18 inches long growing from a woody stem or several stems and never any flowers, then it wont survive outside.  

If, on the other hand the growth is clump forming, i.e all the leaves coming from a single point either from the growing medium, or grow from a single stem (almost a trunk) - and the leaves are very long and fairly narrow (lance shaped) then it may grow outdoors.  I say 'may grow outdoors' because if it has been kept indoors for 25 years it may not take kindly to being vanquished to the elements!

If it is a house plant Yucca and you don't mind parting company with it you could try donating it to public building in your town (a big one, of course!)
