QuestionHello!!
Why do the leaves of my lillies turn a yellow and then rusty brown after the spring bloom? It is hot and humid in Saint Louis;I do water them and have an automatic sprinkler as well.
AnswerHello Sherry
I think the problem with your Stella D'oro may be due to the Saint Louis climate - they don't really care for humidity and a temperature over about 90 decrees F. so you may actually be killing them with kindness by watering them and having a sprinkler on them!
If you can't move them to a cooler and dryer part of your garden to best thing to do would be to cut off (or pull off) the yellowing leaves and wait for next year to enjoy (briefly) their blooms once again!
