QuestionI had a landscaper who planted black eye susans in my garden bed last fall.I
noticed only 4 out of 12 have started to show leaves. So do I assume the the rest
which r standing without leaves dead? There has been a frequent downpour of
rain since 4 weeks on and off could that kill these plants ?I live in Ottawa
,Canada
AnswerHi Alia,
Thanx for your question. Even in Ottawa, the plants should have all emerged by now. I would say the plants are dead. Cut the dead stems down to the ground. Is the soil free draining? If it tends to let water stand and get soggy, this can cause the roots to rot and you may want to consider moving the plants to a place where the soil drains better. I hope this helps.
