QuestionHi Tom,
We have been raising Hollyhocks for about 10 years now. We have one plant on the outside edge of our area this year that has one stalk that is limp and the leaves are limp and curling up. We don't know what the problem is. We have a large area of Hollyhocks and they are fine. Do you know what the problem might be and what we can do? Thanks, Patty
AnswerHi Patty,
Thanx for your question. It sounds like it could be the stalk borer. Here is a linke to the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. The information also indicates treatment. You should contact your local County Extension Office for information regarding appropriate controls for the pest. You might even be able to bring a sample in for them to look at. If you'll give me you county and state, I can get you contact information.
I hope this helps.
Tom
