QuestionGood Morning!
I just recently bought a Alstroemeria and was wondering how to prune it. the tag says to remove dead flowers, does that mean the green part as well as the petals
or does a new flower bloom from it again.
AnswerHi Leeana,
Thanx for your question. When the flower is spent, go ahead and snip off the whole flower. Deadheading the plant and preventing it from setting seed will help you get more flowers from the plant and it should bloom all summer. Be sure to fertilize it with a side dressing of well-composted cow manure. Here's a link about alstroemerias I think you will find helpful.
thx,
Tom
