QuestionWe have a trumpet vine that grows like crazy, but seldom blooms. We have lots of green leaves and it is definitely healthy. Is there anything we can do to get it to bloom. We got it to attract hummingbirds, but it isn't working out to well.
AnswerHi Deborah,
Thanx for your question. An unattended trumpet vine usually doesn't have any trouble blooming. However, overexposure to Nitrogen and too much shade will slow down and even stop blooming. If you are feeding the trumpet vine, I would stop. If you are using a lot of lawn fertilizers etc., they could be collecting in the soil and lawn fertilizers are extremely high in Nitrogen. Shade will reduce or stop blooming although the plant will continue to grow. I hope this helps.
