Questionthis year my 1 year old azalea had lots of small flowers, (not large ones like it had when purchased and planted) and not many leaves. Should I have cut it back last fall?
AnswerHi Linda,
If the azalea is only 1 year old, I would not cut it back. Did you have a late freeze that could have killed off or reduced the flowering? Has it been exceedingly dry or exceedingly wet? You might want to side dress the plant with some well-composted manure or feed with azalea food which you can find at your local nursery. I hope this helps.
