QuestionHOW OFTEN DOES IT BLOOM & FOR HOW LONG?
AnswerHi Dawn,
Thanx for your question. Cannas are not hardy in zones cooler than zone 7. So if you're in zone 6 and below, you'll either need to treat the plant as an annual (buying new plants each year) or digging up the rhizomes in the fall after the first frost and storing them in a cool, dark, dry basement. You can plant canna rhizomes outdoors after the last frost and after the soil has warmed to the upper 60s F. The plant will emerge when it is consistently warm. Plants do best when side dressed with composted cow manure and regular watering. Your cannas should bloom all summer long until the first frost. I hope this helps.
