Question
I just bought two to place in my front planter because I was told they do well in full sun. Will they be abale to withstand the Las Vegas afternoon heat this summer? My front yard faces west.

Hi Dennis,
Thanx for your question.  I have seen bougainvillea growing quite well all over the Las Vegas metro area.  It grows well in Phoenix and Southern California too.  Just make sure the plants get a regular drink of water because they will dry out quicker in a planter than they will in the ground.  You may have to water every day once the heat sets in in May through September.  I would place a mulch of cedar chips or hay about 4 inches deep in the planter to help conserve moisture.  I hope this helps.
