Question
I know that with some plants you can take a part of the mature plant and start a new one. Is this possible with lavender? I have no idea where I would have to cut it.

Answer
Hi Karen,
Thanx for your question.  The easiest method for propagating lavender is to dig up the plant and divide the rootball into halves, quarters or if it is a large rootball eighths.

To root cuttings:

Take 2-4?long semi-ripe stem cuttings in summer. Semi-ripe stems are still pliable but will snap when bent.
Remove the leaves from the bottom of the cutting
dip the end into rooting hormone
place into damp soilless mix

Rooting will take 4-8 weeks.  I hope this helps.
Tom
