QuestionI have several potted perennials that were overwintered under a deciduous tree & mulched with hay.I live in zone 5. I would like to plant them in the ground, however I'm not sure when I am to do that. Do I plant before the new spring growth(which there are signs of) or do I let them grow in the containers & plant when well established. Please help! My plants are like my babies & I do not want to do the wrong thing. Thank you in advance for any advice.Hope to hear from you soon.
AnswerHi Karen,
Thanx for your question. The best rule of thumb is to plant perennials on or right after the last frost date for your area. Zone 5 is something like April 15. So, I would plant my perennials in the ground after that date. I hopet his helps.
