Separating/re planting Cala lilies in AZ

Question
I have read answers for other areas of the country, but I am not sure what to so here in AZ.  The house we moved into 3 yrs ago already had 2 hardy cala lily areas which bloomed fall/early winter and spring.  The leaves have grown substantially, almost massive, but now there are fewer blooms.  I am not much of a gardener, but I think something needs to be done...separating/ feeding/  replant.  Help!

Answer
Hi Jan,
Thanx for your question.  I used to live in Phoenix back in the Late 70s/early 80s.  I also lived in Glendale.  I think you're right about the callas.  Dig them up after they have finished blooming and the leaves have withered.  They should start to go dormant in the summer yes?  Dig the tubers up and separate them and then plant them about 6-8 inches apart.  They should emerge again in the fall.  I hope this helps.
Tom
