QuestionQUESTION: Tom:
I live in Connecticut. Last year I planted some dwarf plumbago as a ground cover. Based upon what I've read, I need to cut back the dead plant stems in the spring. Is there an optimal time to do this or can it really be any time?
ANSWER: Hi Sue,
Thanx for your question. You can cut the dead part of the plants back in the early spring (now would be fine) or in the fall after the plant withers. I hope this helps.

QUESTION: Tom,
Thanks for your response. Very helpful. I have one more question. After I cut back the dead part of the plants, should I fertilize the area? Would something like PlantTone be ok?
AnswerHi Sue,
Thanx for your question. It is always good to start feeding after the last frost as plant growth begins to emerge from the soil. Apply the fertilizer according to the instructions on the package and do not apply fertilizer directly on the plant as it will burn it or injure it. Plant Tone should be fine. Apply in April, May, July and October. I hope this helps.
