starting a mail order and online nursery

Question
QUESTION: My name is Angie Burns, and I'm a daylily enthusiast.  I've been dreaming of selling my daylilies online/mail order, and I don't know where to start to find out what the laws are and requirements for doing such a thing.  I don't want to break any laws!

Is there a place I can go to find out what I need to do?  Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Angie Burns

ANSWER: Hi Angie,
Thanx for your question.  If you are in the U.S., please tell me your state and county.  If outside the U.S. let me know your general location (country).
Thx,
Tom

QUESTION: Hi Tom,

I live in Texas, currently in Collin County.

Thanks,

Angie

Answer
Hi Angie,
Thanx for your question.  I asked you where you lived so I could give you a local contact with Texas A&M Cooperative Extension Service.  You should be able to talk to the County Horticultural Agent or s/he can refer you to someone else at TAMU (Texas A&M University).  A&M have some great resources that can be very helpful to you in your quest to sell your daylilies.

Another resource is the American Hemerocallis Society which is a great resources for daylily enthusiasts.

Between the two of these organizations, they should be able to point you in the right direction to start your business.

I hope this helps.
Tom
