QuestionI have a hybiscus plant that I keep indoors. During the summer months, I put the plant outside. Soon after taking the plant indoors again, I noticed small black flies around the plant, now I also see tiny white spots on the back of the leaves and flying around. What can I do to get rid of these flying insects?
AnswerHi Eleanor,
Thanx for your question. You can control houseplant pests by using insecticidal soaps and/or insecticidal oils. They are highly effective in controlling these pests. There are several types of safe insecticides you can use to control white fly which come up out of the soil in the pot. Your local nursery or DIY will have these products. I hope this helps. By the way, there is a separate forum on the Allexpert Site for Houseplants. Those people have much more experience with houseplants than do I. I do have a small assortment of houseplants and like you, I take them outdoors for a summer vacation. I find it keeps them more robust. I hope this helps.
