QuestionCalif. the leaves are turning yellow. out door plant. Am I watering to much?
AnswerHi Elsie,
Thanx for your question. You're in California and you have a hibiscus growing outdoors with yellowing leaves. This could mean a number of things.
1. Not enough water. Increase watering to once a week, 1 inch soaking.
2. Ground not fertile enough. Side dressing of cow manure will help.
3. Too much water. The soil should drain well and not be muddy or soggy. You'll have to move the plant if the soil doesn't drain well.
4. If it's just a few leaves it could just be winter dormancy. The reduction in seasonal sunlight can cause this too.
I hope this helps.
