Questioni have an anthurium plant that has been with me for quite sometime. recently, it had some blooms that the stem doesn't seem to grow long. The bud stays at the bottom of the plant. I keep it in an indoor garden that plant receives 50 % sunlight.Previous blooms did not react that way to their living conditions. What do I do?
AnswerHi Virginia,
Thanx for your question. It sounds to me like the plant is rootbound. I would remove it from where it is planted, gently shake away the soil. Trim off all the dead roots and untangle and trim the root ball (not too severely). Make the hole from which the plant came, larger so that the plant fits well. Cover with soil and give it a light feeding of a balanced fertilizer like 12-12-12. I hope this helps.
