QuestionMy jasmine is the type with fragrent flowers and I'm training it to grow on some wire on my fence. For the last year or two they grow what looks like green beans, typically two "beans" sharing one stem. Could you tell me what these are? I'm in area 7 if that matters.
AnswerHi Rose,
The green beans you describe are seed pods. Thanx for your question. If this plant is Stephanotis floribunda you can sow the seeds if you want to propagate more plants. Sow on top of damp (not soggy) potting soil and lightly cover them with milled sphagnum moss. Do no completely cover. Some light is necessary for germination. The temperature must be maintained between 70-80 F. Germination takes 1-3 months. Place the pot inside a plastic baggie to maintain humidity. Otherwise, just pick the seed pods off of leave them. They won't harm the plant. I hope this helps.
