QuestionI live in Utah and would like to know when is the best time to transplant mums
and daisies. I am not trying to take them out of a pot, I already have some
growing in the ground and they are starting to get very full in the area where
they are. I would like to move some of them to other areas of the yard. Any
help or advice that you could give would be great!
AnswerHi Carrie.
Thanx for your question. The best time to move perennials is in early fall or spring after the last frost. You can also divide the plants at this time if the rootball is too big. Just cut it in fourths and if they're still too big break them down even farther. Use a sharp knife or saw. Make sure you give them plenty of water when you move the. Both transplant easily. Make the hole bigger than the whole from which you dug them so they'll sit a little deeper than where they were. I hope this helps.
