QuestionI have had Stella D oro daylilies in my yard for years. The last few years they have gotten little sead pad looking things at the top of the stem. Should I cut these off like I do the dead blooms? I live in St. Louis, MO. Thanks for your help
AnswerMartha,
You're in my old "stomping grounds", I went to med school at St. Louis Univ! Love the place-it's changes SOOOOO much since the 70s!
When the bloom is gone you can "deadhead" it-cut it down as near to the base as possible. It doesn't hurt to keep the "pod" on--it's just unsightly!
