Please help-what should i do!!!!

Question
I gotmy first beautiful pink calla lilly tall and gorgeous-we have had a lot of rain recently but all the sudden i noticed i have at the bottom of one side is all mushy and the leaves and flowers are just falling over-when i lifted them up gently they just came right out of the bottom where it is all mushy!(the green stalk part above the bulb)should i take that one side off so that it doesn't spread to the rest of the plant-I am just upset b/c it was so gorgeous. I planted it where it gets sunlight all day and put the miracle grow gardening soil under and around it-but this already started before i put it in the ground-i have a 16 mnth old daughter and thought possibly she just hit part of the plant and punctured it so the gooey part was the inside trying to heal the piece.....i also have sprayed ortho max (the insect and bug spray for gardens and flowers) but that was also after it has occured. Please help me save this beautiful plant-I don't know what to do! The one I planted beside it is a light yellow green and is doing amazing--I don't understand please help me......Thank you!

Answer
Lauren,
I would just watch it closely and trim it back to about 6" when it's done blooming.  Give it some support in the meantime. Leaving it with it's stalk for as long as you can will insure getting its much needed nutrients for next years bloom.
