Thanx for your question. It sounds like your datura is the victim of a pest. I think it may be the a hawk moth or sphinx moth caterpillar. It could also be the tomato hornworm as the datura is in the same famliy as the tomato and the hornworm is one of the pests. You can use Bt on it which is harmless to humans but deadly to caterpillars. It is a bacteria that is ingested by the caterpillars and kills them quickly without harming the plant or the good bugs.
