Unwanted grass

Question
I have a border of creeping junipers that is infested with unwanted grass even though there is a weed barrier down.  It is a challenge to keep up with hand pulling the grass - is there any way to kill the grass while saving the junipers or should I have everything pulled and something else planted?

Answer
Your 'unwanted grass' may be a noxious Weed. Wiregrass for instance will penetrate not only Weed barriers, but cement, as it wages its campaign to take over the world.

My suggestion is to get the Weeds up once and for wall.  Then get yourself a tough, working barrier.  They work.  Cover with 3 inches of mulch and you're in business.  No need to uproot the Juniper border.

Some aggressive Weeds reach underground to spread.  Make sure you install a vertical barrier the reaches down into the ground if you want to halt progress.  Any questions?
