QuestionHow do you care for a yucca plant, in fall and in the spring? Do I cut it back or rake it off?
AnswerThese plants are pretty low maintenance and shouldn't need to be cut back. If you notice that there are dead, brown leaves you can cut them back for aesthetic purposes. Also, if you find that it has collected debris then you can clean it out but I would recommend that you do this by hand, preferably wearing thick gloves to not wreck your hands on possibly sharp objects including the plant, so that you don't break the living tissue on the leaves providing the plant with food using photosynthesis. Keep in mind that they are considered a xeric plant and don't need a lot of moisture, don't overwater as root rot could occur and kill the entire plant. Goodluck, they are fun plants to grow and really add to landscapes.
