Question
I'm looking for information on when and how to prune dwarf norway spruce.  I have quite a few in my yard and their height is o.k., they are just too wide and growing too close to each other.  Not sure what time of year or how best to prune them without hurting them.

Hi Ellen,
Thanx for your question.  In my opinion, I would NOT prune them.  Leave them alone and allow them to grow out.  They may seem unruly right now, but they will fill in.  I think pruning would make it worse.  Most spruce are very much symetric.  Let them grow.
