wet soil perenials

Question
Hi,, I have a small problem I'm hoping you can help me with.. I live on a river in central Massachusetts and am trying to figure out what I can plant along my property line that will grow good in wet soil.. I'm looking for some type of decorative grass that grows fairly high thats not terribly expensive,, any suggestions??

Answer
I know you're thinking of Grass, but the first thing that comes to mind is Iris sibirica.  It require considerable moisture to do well, but multiplies like rabbits.  Bluestone Perennials has a half-price special on one of the old favorites, Caesar's Brother:

A few clumps of these easy to grow perennials would not break the bank and would increase over the years as well as contrast with the Grasses you plant.  Their foliage is outstanding hen the plant is not in bloom.  They do need Sun.

Instead of $8 each, these are $4 each.  Consider that White Flower Farm charges $10 or more for its I. sibiricas (although they'll sell you the 'Wings Over Water' collection of 12 Siberian Iris for the low low price of $58 -- 'no plants are more rugged and reliable.  Given full Sun or partial Shade and average to damp Soil, Siberian Iris form large clumps that bloom heavily every year').

I don't have your zipcode or I'd do this for you, but I think your best bet is to search Bluestone Perennials in the 'Custom Search' box on the upper left corner of their homepage.  Check the 'Grass' box, 'moisture tolerant' at the bottom of the Search, and your Zone.  Then see what happens!

They have a money back guarantee and I can tell you they back it up 100 percent.  In times like these we deserve that kind of service.  They deliver.  Keep me posted,
