QuestionI just read here how to split day lilies. I live outside of Washington D.C. at the very norther tip of Virginia. It has just turned to March. Is this a good time to split them or should I wait for the fall?
AnswerHello Ken. Daylilies are pretty resilient plants.
In the South, early spring or very late fall are the most desirable planting times. .
Depending on which USDA hardiness map you look at you should be a zone 6 or 7. So you should be able to divide your daylilies now or in the fall. For more info about growing daylilies in your area you may want to check out the Virginia Cooperative Extension at :http://www.ext.vt.edu/pubs/envirohort/426-030/426-030.html
Hope I answered your question.
