QuestionI live in Las Vegas. We have two cape honey suckle and 6 Autumn Sage. I cut them back to about two inches from the ground. My wife thought I should have left them alone.

Your plants are going to be fine. It never hurts to cut a plant back in the winter. These plants will recover and be bushier. Plants don't like a lot of old, dead or otherwise superfluous debris around them, it tends to stunt them. You should be fine this spring.
