QuestionI have some asian jasmine (established for 2 years)that I would like to propagate some of it to another location. Is this possible and when is the best time to do it?
Do I have to dig it with the roots or is it possible it will root from the "overgrowth" stems if I remove some of the leaves?
AnswerHi Doug,
Thanx for your question. Wait until spring and then take 6-8 inch green (soft) cuttings and strip off all but the last couple of leaves. Dip the cuttings in a rooting hormone and plant in a pot of warm, wet sand. Seal this inside a clear plastic baggie and keep it warm. Cuttings should be rooted in about 8 weeks. You can check by gently probing with a pencil around the cuttings. Cuttings should then be gently removed and potted in separate pots. Place the cuttings in separate pots outdoors in the shade protected from wind and rain for about 10 days to become acclimatized to the outdoors. After that, you can plant them in the desired location. I hope this helps.
