Questionevery fall i used to cut my spirea back to about 9" to make sure i a great spring bloom. (sometimes i cut them back less drastically in mid-season to get another bloom.) i'm inclined not to cut them back this fall because of health issues. will the spirea still bloom in the spring if i don't do any cutting back?
AnswerHi Roger,
Thanx for your question. When I was a kid, we had a spirea in the front yard. My dad hardly ever touched it and the thing bloomed predictably every year. Fear not. Your spirea will be fine. Occasionally, you may want to get someone to gently prune it for you just to keep it neat after it has finished blooming. I hope this helps.
