QuestionI live in Pennsylvania and just planted portulacas this year. Since they germinate by seed, do I cut the plants down, pull them out or just let them die by themselves in the fall?
AnswerPortulacas are a vividly colored ANNUAL plant that wane toward the end of the Summer. They LOVE baking heat and drought and they happen to be one of my favorite plants. The strength of color is incredible.
Let your Portulacas fade into oblivion toward the cooler season and thank them for a job well done. Like most Annuals, once spent, they will decompose into your Soil and disappear forever.
Thanks for writing. Very pleased to meet you!
