QuestionI live in Michigan and my grandfather had these water lilie type, maybe hosta plants along his house. Large green leave with a sweet smelling long white flower. Ive been looking for sometime to plant these but no luck. thanks for any help
AnswerHi Curt,
Thanx for your question. Is the plant you speak of generally growing in the shade or partly shaded location? It sounds like lily-of-the-valley except they don't have really big leaves. The leaves are somewhat like a hosta but the plant only grows about 8-12 inches tall. It blooms in late spring with a sprig of small, white flowers that have a very intoxicating fragrance. The plant is perennial and grows via underground stolons. You can find the plant in most nurseries and even K-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, in the spring or on-line. Check out this link and let me know if this is the plant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lily_of_the_valley
I hope this helps.
