Bulbs in question are cannas... as we know crepe myrtles do not grow from bulbs...

Thanx for clearing it up for me. Cannas are only hardy to zone 7. Do not refrigerate the rhizomes. Rhizomes will die if the ground freezes in your area. Rhizomes should be lifted after the first frost and brush off excess dirt. Store the bulbs in a container that is ventilated. An onion sack or a net bag is great. Dust the rhizomes with an anti-fungal horticultural powder to keep down rot. Bulbs can be stored in a cool, dark, dry basement or garage as long as it does not freeze. If you live in a frost-free area, rhizomes can be dug up and moved anytime. Cannas are heavy feeders so be sure and side dress the soil with rotted cow manure or compost. I hope this helps.
