Question
I would like to grow some perennials and shrubs (hydrangea, etc.) in containers.  I live in Chicago - will they last through the winter & what would I need to do to winterize them?  Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have had my perennials in containers in this lake effect snow region of ohio and The next year they came right back, just try to keep the base of the pots covered with something........i have protected mine with anything from blankets to mulch......also don't water as much in the winter, I give mine a drink every 2 weeks that way they can go dormant.
