dwarf hydrengas not blooming

Question
QUESTION: Hi.

I have two dwarf hydrengas that don't bloom.  I live at the Jersey shore and
have sandy soil.  I have had both for about four years.  They get the morning
sun only.  What could be the problem?

ANSWER: Hi Kathleen,
Thanx for your question.  Have the hydrangeas never bloomed before?  Do you feed them?  Do you prune them and if so how and when?  How much sunlight do they get in the morning.  I can answer your question better if you provide me the additional information.
thx,
Tom

QUESTION: Tom
One of them has bloomed before.  I feed them with miracle grow (hose) three
or four times a summer. I have never pruned them because they are only
about two feet high and wide.  I think when I bought them they were called
pee gee. They get about three hours of morning sun.  Any ideas

Answer
Hi Kathleen,
Here is a link on paniculatas (pee gees) http://www.hydrangeashydrangeas.com/paniculata.html

Your plants need more light.  Three hours isn't enough.  Also, use a fertilizer rated for flowering plants rather than miracle grow.  Too much nitrogen will cause the plant to concentrate on green growth and not on flowering.  Not enough light?  The plant will grow but it won't bloom.  I hope this helps.
Tom
