Dinner Plate Hibiscus/Monsella Tulip

Question
Two questions. I have the large dinner plate Hibiscus flowers blooming but they bend to the ground and never stand tall. Can I tie these tall flowers loosely to support? Any other suggestions?
Also, my Monsella tulips faded after blooming so do you let them dry up or do you cut them back still green after the flower is spent? I don't want to harm next years growth.

Answer
Hi Janet,
Thanx for your question.  Yes, you may prop up your dinner plate Hibiscus.  There are green colored stakes that range in sizes from a couple of feet to six feet tall and green twine too so that it does not affect the aesthetics of the plant.  Also, after the tulips have bloomed, you may but the spent bloom off but let the leaves continue to gather energy from the sun until they begin to turn yellow and then you can gently prune them away from the plant.  I hope this helps.
Tom
