QuestionQUESTION: I have a large holly bush in my back yard. It is about 20 years old. It is very healthy and grows alot during the year. Many flys are attracted to it this time of year (July). Are they attracted by the small flowers on it? It is sometimes a nuisance. I'm talking about 100's of flys. What can be done? I do not want to spray if it will hurt the plant.
ANSWER: Hi Frank,
Thanx for your question. The flies are attracted to the holly flowers. Can you tell me what area you're in and what type of holly it is?
thx,
Tom

AnswerHi Frank,
Thanx for the follow up info. I am so sorry it has taken such a long time to get back to you. I have been unable to find any additional information for you other than what I gave you previously. I suggest you contact your local Master Gardeners and here is a link for Atlantic County, Rutgers University Cooperative Extension Service. I hope this helps.
