Question
I moved into a home with many canna lilies. They bloomed the first year, but now they form what appears to be a flower, then it dries up and falls off. I have tried to separate, still same behavior. Any suggestions?

Hi Lisa,
Thanx for your question.  Where do you live and what kind of soil and climate conditions do you have?  You should dig the rhizomes up completely and separate them if the plants have grown into thick clumps as this will greatly reduce blooming.  Is there enough organic material in the soil?  They are heavy feeders and they like lots of water as well as consistent warmth.  I hope this helps.
