QuestionHi I have a brugmansia in my office but it is not blooming as yet. It had bloomed two summers ago when I first bought it. However, last summer it did not do too well as I got carried away pruning it after the first summer. I am from London, Ontario, Canada and the brugmansia gets about 4 hours of morning sun. There are plenty of leaves and the plant looks healthy - about six feet tall. I cannot move it out of the office as it is too big now. I will have to wait til fall to prune it back and then move it to a sunnier location for next summer. Do you think it would bloom if I get a 'grow' light?
AnswerHi Kim,
Thanx for your question. Four hours of sun is not enough and are you feeding the plant a low nitrogen high potassium and phosphorus fertilizer? Brugs weren't meant to be office plants. It's not a good environment although as you have experienced, it will grow. It just won't bloom. It should be on your deck or in a sunroom. I hope this helps.
