QuestionSeveral years ago I purchased a sweet autumn clematis through the mail from a nursery I've usually been pleased with. It has grown quite large, and flowered beautifully every year, but unfortunately has absolutely no fragrance. I've never grown this variety of clematis before, but I was under the assumption that they are extremely fragrant, which is why I added it to my garden in the first place. We've sold our home and are preparing to move to Arkansas. If there's something I can do to help this plant, I'll bring it along, if you think perhaps it's a lost cause I'll just leave it where it is. Thanks, Toni
AnswerHi Toni,
Thanx for your question. I don't like this plant at all. It is invasive and hard to control. I've dug it up and burned it and choppped it and it self-seeds so well here (Kansas). I have never noticed an odor to it so it is either very subtle or non-existent. I'd contact the place where you bought the plant and ask them about it. I hope this helps.
Tom
