Thanx for your question. General pH should be around 6.2-6.4. If you have a blue hydrangea and want to keep it blue, you'll need a pH of about 5.2. You may have to add aluminum to the soil if it is not acidic enough. There are soil test kits available at most of the DIY stores. There are special foods for acid-loving plants like Miracid.
