Calla Lillys leave are yellowing

hi! 2 months ago i planted my yellow calla lilly(it has flowers already when i bought it) on my back yard, that has atleast2-4 hrs of sunshine. lately i noticed that the leaves are turning yellow and started wilting. but, the flowers are still there and pretty. what could be wrong? what should i do?

Hi Maria,
Thanx for your question.  If you're not watering too much (not more than once a week if no regular rain) and not feeding it constantly (feed with a 12-12-12 balanced fertilizer and follow the directions on the box.) the other thing is it is not getting enough sun.  They prefer full sun however, the colored callas will go dormant after blooming for a while.  The leaves will begin to yellow and wither and eventually, the foliage and flower will disappear.  Allow the corms (bulbs) to "rest".  If you do not live in zones 9, 10 or 11, you must lift the corms in the fall before the first frost and store them in a cool, dry, dark basement.  The white callas (Zantedeschia ethiopica) will stay green year round if grown in a frost-free environment.  Most of the colored callas are hybrids and will go dormant.  I hope this helps.
