QuestionI would like to know how many people uses Jerry Baker's tonics and what the results are?
I am planing to use them on my Perennial Garden this year.
I live in Northwest Ohio in Zone 5
I am planning to have my garden at it's pick all summer long with your help all things are possible.
My garden is 25' X 25' and is 40 ' in front. Yes it is a large perennial bed, in fact it is meant for Butterflies and Hummingbirds. So yes it has to be in it's pick at all times. also plan to put a drip system in to water my plants.
There is one item that I would like some help with and that is to put a focal point in the garden?
AnswerJohn, I can't tell you how much business Jerry Baker has. I have read his books and his concepts are unique. Many of them work. I don't like some of them, but what I happen to love about Jerry Baker is the way he has taken the Chemicals out of the Garden.
Anybody who can do that in my book is a Saint.
On this Easter morning when millions of people around the world celebrate the life of a person who taught patience, and respect for others and for life, how can any Gardener not be grateful that we have a high profile, down to Earth spokesman like Jerry Baker to make these things possible in our own back yard?
Butterflies and Hummingbirds are IMPOSSIBLE in a garden filled with Chemicals. Even one spritz of Malathion, a single dose of the 2,4-D in Scotts Weed and Feed, these will destroy all those beautiful things that God wants for our gardens.
Drip system? FANTASTIC, John! FANTASTIC! Saves water. Even if you had a gazillion dollars to spend on water, it's right to conserve.
Me, I complicate everything. Lots of people write in here and they want to know when to put down the Scotts 1-2-3 or the Lime or whatever. They snicker at Jerry Baker but they are doing some pretty awful things to their lawns and gardens, and after a while, it shows. They have no idea.
So me, I speak to them. I try to explain, on a molecular level if necessary, without losing them, without arrogance, that these chemicals are not what they think. And sometimes, I reach them. Jerry Baker gets hits and misses. Me, I get a few of those misses, and hit a few. He is really famous. Nobody knows the Long Island Gardener. He has power. So to me, He is a great American, even if I don't agree with every detail of his program. It's a great program. And it's great that you have figured that out. Bravo, John!
Your focal point -- well, do you have a Birdbath? My guess is, yes.
If not, get one asap! They come out with a lot of beautiful models every year, and there are antiques at Estate Sales with lots of character. We gardeners have been doing this a long time.
That birdbath needs Hostas around the base and Tulips. Near a tree or large shrub? Mine's near a Viburnum. Perfect place for the birdfeeder. I bought one for my father one year with a remote speaker so he could hear the birds eating breakfast while he was in the kitchen drinking his morning coffee.
I tell you, John, some things money can't buy.
A good life is one of them. My friend, you have a good life. And God bless Jerry Baker.
Thanks for writing. Any more questions, I'm here.
