QuestionWhile creating a new garden bed my landscaper planted some perennials (sedum, daylily, vinca) with the roots on top of the soil surrounded by mulch. I questioned this but she said it is an acceptable practice. Is it?
AnswerHi Philip,
Thanx for your question. Did your landscaper cover the roots.? There is a no-till philosophy where plants are placed on top of the ground and then covered with layers of mulch until a new soil is built up but the roots should not be left exposed to the elements. I hope this helps.
