QuestionHello,
I'll get righ to it ( this is my first time). I am 21 and recently bought a new home, I live in victoria bc and we have a most peculiar plant growing out side, when we moved here the garden was bare, we've now figured out what everything that has grown back from last year is, except for one plant. The plant starts as a folded leaf ( much like a philidendron?'spelling') Then grows to about three feet tall (each leaf). The leafs have white spots and the leafs are about 7 inches wide by 8 inches long. Then out of no where a stem you think will be a leaf turns into a flower with one petal which is the entire flower. The petal starts then wraps around like a teacup and there is one long thing in side kinda thick with little yellow bumps that turn black, then when the plant dies the flower turns greenish again almost the same colour as the leafs. Flower is about three feet tall about 7 leafs per one flower.I have a few pictures but I can't figure out how to send it in this forum. Please send me an e-mail address to which I'll send my pics. Sorry this is so confusing I'm trying to learn I live in the garden city of Canada, you should visit sometime.
AnswerJenna, if you would like to re-send your question as a "Private" question (see the little box marked "Private"?) I will send you my email address and you can try sending your photographs. I have to remind you though that I am the Long Island Gardener and I may not be the most qualified person to identify your Canadian plant. But I would like to try.
