How can I keep my lilac bushes from spreading? I've thinned & cut back the hedge to where I want it, but more suckers keep invading the space where I don't want them.

Hi Carol,
Thanx for your question.  Lilacs are notorious for their suckers.  Just keep the lawnmower going around the base of the plant.  That's about all you can do other than digging them up and separating them from the mother plant.  This to me, is too time-consuming and I'd rather just cut them back with the lawn mower.  I hope this helps.
